| Programme | Understanding the molecular basis of transcriptional regulation and tissue-specific gene expression during development is a central goal of modern biology. It is the aim of the Marburg/Gießen-Rotterdam International Research Training School (Graduiertenkolleg) “Transcriptional control in developmental processes” to study major aspects of transcriptional control in developmental processes by using different model organisms. These studies will also contribute to our understanding of human development, health and disease. The research program is based on a number of scientifically related projects and of existing collaborations within groups in Marburg/Gießen and between groups in Marburg/Gießen and Rotterdam. Within the framework of the research program the researchers in Rotterdam and Marburg/Gießen have implemented a joint teaching and training program. PhD students working in Marburg/Gießen and Rotterdam participate in research and teaching programs in Rotterdam and Marburg/Gießen. The program includes exchanges of academic staff and PhD students. Annual joint workshops will have a central role. The International Graduiertenkolleg Marburg/Gießen-Rotterdam is embedded in an excellent scientific and educational environment stimulating personal skills of its members. | ||||
